SWYP Bath study tour: Hayesfield School and Bath Western Riverside

Bath study tour - itineraryThe South West Young Planners are excited to offer you an opportunity to join us on a study tour in Bath, focusing on the planning and delivery of bold sustainable design and construction solutions in two recent developments; Hayesfield School and Bath Western Riverside, both within the sensitive UNESCO World Heritage Site. After the tour we invite you to join us for a Q&A and networking session with the speakers and other young planners, in a unique Bath bar, that includes a free drink!

The study tour takes place on Thursday 17th October and will commence at 6 pm.

The GVA sponsored tour will visit:

  • Hayesfield School. Tim Foster from White Design will provide a tour of the new teaching block. This includes passive design and build, using pre-fabricated renewable, locally sourced and carbon sequestering materials.
  • Bath Western Riverside. Simon Martin from Bath and Northeast Somerset Council will provide a talk and tour of Bath Western Riverside, being built to Code Level 4 including district heating, brown roofs and state of the art materials.
  • Post Event Networking Session ‘The Canary’Through the kind sponsorship of GVA the South West Young Planners Steering Group are also able to provide a Q&A, networking session and one free drink for each attendee, in one of Baths most unique bars The Canary.

This unique combination of talks, tours and networking is totally free, but has very limited availability. Therefore we do please ask that you only secure a place if you are able to attend. Events like these, where people are giving their time freely to support your professional development, can only be run if people commit to attending them.

Tour ItineraryA) 6.00pm – Meet outside Bath Spa Railway Station. Group will depart at 6.10pmsharp

B) 6.35pm – Hayesfield School ‘Nucleus’. Arrive at the ‘Nucleus’ for tour, talks and Q&A. Leave at approx. 7.20pm

C) 7.25pm – Bath Western Riverside. On-site tour of Bath Western Riverside

D) 8.15pm – Arrival at the Canary. Drinks and networking till finish
